The role: Patent Acquisition Manager

As a Patent Acquisition Manager, you'll have the unique opportunity to help mold the world-shaping technologies that the company is developing. You'll use your technical, legal, financial and strategic business skills to identify and assess patent acquisition opportunities, drive team decisions and execute deals in alignment with Google's needs. With the patent team, you'll help negotiate and close domestic and international patent deals. You'll work cross-functionally within the the legal department, as well as with other business groups at Google and outside parties.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and evaluate patent acquisition opportunities.
• Negotiate and close resulting deals.
• Support deal execution.
• Work with the patent and litigation teams in resolving patent disputes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BA or BS degree (in lieu of a degree, 4 years of relevant work experience).
• 4 years of relevant experience in Patent Acquisition.

Preferred Qualifications:

• BS in Engineering (or other relevant science), MBA and/or JD.
• 6 years of relevant work experience with patents.
• Internet, communications or e-commerce experience.
• Ability to understand, identify and properly address key patent issues.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical ability.
• Excellent negotiation skills.
